Almost a month ago, I had the chance to join the Cavite Backpacking Club through the help of my friend Dex Remulla. The club currently has about 75 members, all of which maintains permanent residency in Cavite.

The club however does not hold group tours, living up with the nature of the members as backpackers. What it does basically is provide gears, things needed for the best backpacking experience such as waterproof, snatch proof backpacks, survival kits, GPS devices as well as local maps of certain places.

So if a member wants to take a trip on that particular place, all he /she needs to do is call the club office, text or email them about the place you want to visit and then the club officer will reproduce the needed maps and guide for your travel.

Asking for these maps and guides are optional of course. This is due to the fact that for some, this very thing reduces the kind of adventure a backpacker wants to experience. Some people wants to make their own way of discovering things and places.

Another goal for the organization is to increase public awareness that backpackers do exist and that they actually contribute the biggest part in local tourism. It also encourages establishments such as hotels and restaurants to offer backpacker deals and promos more often.

As a backpacker, I know that stepping out of the comfort zone is an exhilarating opportunity to discover and explore nature and learn new things about it and other things in general.
