PhilippinesFood Trip in Maginhawa Street
Quezon City is a haven for foodies who live in the north of Metro Manila. There's no need to drive down south to Makati because of the abundance of restaurants and malls in the City of the Stars. There's Tomas Morato, where everything comes to live when darkness falls and Trinoma, Ayala Inc.'s first endeavor in Quezon City. For those who want to have good food all day long, nothing beats Maginhawa Street (Convenient Street).
Maginhawa Street is that popular food strip that also serves as the major road of Teacher's Village in Quezon City, right beside the University of the Philippines main campus. The street straddles four separate barangay (Sikatuna Village, Teacher's Village East & West, and UP Village) and is home to those small restaurants awaiting to be discovered. Because of its proximity to EDSA and the academic belt of Katipunan Avenue, Maginhawa Street is an excellent place where students, professionals, intellectuals, artists, and the ordinary QC folks meet up and unite in their search for good food outside the malls. There's always something for everyone in busy Maginhawa. There's a newly opened store, Burger Project, that offers some variety to the otherwise saturated burger market. Looking for some quick Japanese meal? There's Crazy Katsu. How about a bipolar restaurant owned by a bipolar owner whose goal is to serve you dishes that could change your mood in an instant? Try out Van Gogh is Bipolar. Of course, Maginhawa is also famous for Moonleaf Tea Shop, popular for their milk tea offerings. These are just a few of the dozens of food joints serving here. Maginhawa is hardly into fine dining. Most of the places here are pretty simple and were originally intended for the student population that thrives around it, but if you are missing those small-restaurant flair, far away from the restaurant chains that we often see in the malls, going to this street is a must. Many of the restaurants are actually placed side by side. It's a foodie dream come true. You can talk about...
