PhilippinesSolo Traveling for the Broken Hearted
The last few months have passed by very fast. I've seen myself travel more extensively than I have ever done during the first two decades of my life. I've also learned to appreciate just how beautiful it is to be at another place instead of just putting myself inside a room for hours at a time. There is something beautiful in traveling, and I learned all of this while going away solo for the very first time. Now I have plans in the coming months to travel even further, exploring my own country and seeing what it has to offer.
The opportunity to travel a lot came at a perfect time. I was fresh off a breakup, still reeling from the fact that I am single once again. Going to places allowed me to remove my thoughts off the incident for a while. There are nights when I still think about it, how it could have possibly failed, but when I go out in the morning and set out to some new destination, I am rejuvenated and optimistic that the day will be alright. Traveling solo has its perks. You can spend as much or as little time as you wish in any given destination without taking into consideration what other people want. I would normally wake up late in the morning because I am not a morning person. That was fine by me. I could go to a single destination on a given day because I have all the time. This may not be possible if you are in a group, the other members of which have other traveling goals in mind. You also get a better chance of meeting new people. Travelers without companions are easier to approach after all than those who are traveling with a group. I managed to communicate with other people even though there was a language barrier. Making some crazy signs was damn crazy and funny. Lastly, you'll have this sense of freedom. I did not know that I could ever travel alone to a foreign country until I did it. Now I am more than willing to do it again in my own country, where communication will be less of a problem. Still, after every trip, I still think about my past relationship. I probably got the urge to travel solo from this person so once the trip ends, I always wonder if this person ever set foot on the places that I visited. I hope it ends really soon.
